Dog-gone-it.... there's that Steinway again. I wish I knew the serial number.

where exactly would it be located? We looked all over that thing and didn't see a serial number. I printed out some pictures for those guys and will
be stopping by on the way down. I will see if they found it or will look again myself.
I would be willing to bet it's the one you said was shipped to La Paz.
I'll get more history on it.

I would like to ask you to share your knowledge with us. Your pictures are great but it sure would be interesting if you would tell us how the museum
came to be etc. Just a little blurb.

I'll see what I can do Bernie.
I just now got two years worth of pictures organized and will start with the stories/history and renaming the photos soon.
In the mean time, pretend it's a mystery as much of it is to me! I'm still learning a lot and want to make sure my information is as accurate as it
can be.
Seen way to many examples of "rushed publications" on Baja to want to follow the same path as the foreign capitalists.

The serial # will be located on the lower interior of the cast plate. Run your fingers around the inside of the plate. You will feel the raised
casting #'s.

If you show me a picture of the "action" I MAY be able to approximate the age. I would need to see a picture of a hammer striking a string and held in
this position.

Also if anyone would be interested:
If the piano is really old or/and has a unique history the Steinway folks would probably restore it for next to nothing.
I got a rehearsal piano at the black musicians union hall in KC done because of this. It was used by Basie and others.

It is really old
and probably has a more unique history than most Steinways.
Dave check out the photos at my group (you don't have to join) and I will post some more pictures of it. There is even an older one there.
I will come by for a Pastrami and discuss it.

If 1880 the # will be 5 digits beginning with 4. If late '80s, will begin with 5.
