Thanks :yes: I remember that too. Guess I've just had too much tequila since then and forgot about it :bounce::lol::bounce:
But I figured there were a few people out there who don't watch "Sunday Morning" that might appreciate it...:tumble:

Thanks Udo. Hey, it was nice meeting you at the chili cook off. Hope we can get together in the future and spend a little time over a tequilla shooter or two and swap stories...:tumble::spingrin::lol:

Good stuff. It was Julio Bermejo who told me years ago about one of my favorite places in TJ to buy tequila. Nice guy willing to share his love of all things 100% Agave. Next time you are in SF give him a visit. They make all the margaritas at Tommys Mexican Restaurant with 100% blue agave , hand sqooze lime and no blending. Just like at Casa EGL. :dudette:

This from FDT on another tequila thread:

"La Playa is on Calle 11 (11th street) close to Sanchez Taboada and Kentucky Derby is on Calle 3ra (third street) almost at the corner of Madero, one block down from Revolucion.
Need a guide?"

I have only shopped at La Playa. When we first went there years back they only sold 'wholesale' six bottle minumum. We would stock up and store at casa by the sea then bring back a few each trip. Now you can buy just one if you want. Closed on Mondays.

Fernando speaks highly of Kentucky Derby. I have not yet been there but trust his judgement. Someday I will get there to shop. He says they have a more diversified and 'exotic' variety and awlays try and have the stuff you see at the festival.

Most recently I have found that the prices for the stuff I like to drink daily is only a coulple dollars more at the Don Pisto in Puerto Nuevo so that is my go to store for quick and easy. Others on this board have other ideas and favs.

Viva Tequila!

Since we got a Sentri pass and don't have to head thru TJ to cross northbound we only hit La Playa on special occasions, like when my wife wants 'whole wheat' bolillos from Pan Integral across the street or when we have tourists with us who want to s

For folks in BCS, you might care to check out Pancho's in Cabo. I understand that John and Mary are now at least semi--retired. But John spent years traveling and acquiring tequila. Not sure how up to date it is, but this link is to what was available.

WOW!!! What a selection Bajahowodd. I'll go for that next time in Cabo. Elgatoloco,
I'll be heading for La Playa Wednesday afternoon. I know exactly where it is. Thanks. I love a good tequila and appreciate your help in finding a quality store.

OK!!! So who's got a favorite tequila...:bounce::bounce

For the price and flavor mine is "Cazadores" and I like all three for different reasons. The blanco at $18 a litre for margaritas. The reposado at $20 for shooters and margaritas and the anejo at $24 for sipping. All prices at the duty free store in San Ysidro and about the same on the other side.
BTW I like shooters with a slice of orange instead of lime. Try it....:yes:
