Rancho El Coyote/Meling Ranch

We are headed inland on Oct. 10th to stay at Rancho El Coyote. The histroy is unique. Anyone ever go there and what will the weather be like at this time of year.

Being that there are many Rancho El Coyotes in Baja, you might be a bit more specific...

Is it the one between Mike's Sky Rancho and the Meling Ranch? There web site is http://www.ranchoelcoyote.com (it didn't open today, however)...

When I did a search on Bing, I found this post from a motorcycle forum (comparing Mike's Sky Rancho to El Coyote):

"Both are owned by the Meling family, just different branches. I stayed at El Coyote last month and really liked the place. The people are nice and Jovita's cooking is excellent - we even had homemade bread baked in her woodburning oven!

The rooms are comprable to Mike's, no bar, so you need to bring your own booze or beer. Overall the place is quieter, smaller and you get a real ranch feel - after all, it is a working cattle ranch.

If you have a support vehicle it is also a much easier access via the San Telmo road, paved all but the last 6 miles to the ranch.

You can't beat Mike's for the partying, but if you'd like a nice, quiet change of place (and pace) try Rancho El Coyote. Sounds to me like one night at each would work well for you.:ride:"

Yes, Thank You. It is the one owned by the Meling Family. I am so excited to go. Discovering all the hidden places in Baja is in my bucket list. Just came back from Porto Santo Tomas. Wonderful fishing and all it's cracked up to be!

You will have a lifetime of finding new and special Baja places ahead of you!

We went past El Coyote crossing over Baja from San Quintin to San Felipe via Mike's Sky Rancho... I posted a sign for El Coyote along that road in my web page for that trip: http://vivabaja.com/905

They abbreviated the beer Tecate as T-K-T (Te Ka Te is Spanish)!

I stay at El Coyote often, as recent as 2 weeks ago. Jovita will be your kind hostess and with her cook Ophelia will make sure you're well fed with incredible home cooked food. Jovita's sons Esteban and Alfredo Meling may or not be there - El Coyote is a full working cattle ranch. 6 very clean rooms in 3 ranch houses, solar powered, no generator, huge swimming pool. No bar, but they do sell cold beer and sodas. You can expect warm days but the night was already starting to get chilly. Small but quiet - you will definitely enjoy your stay.

We are paying $65.00 per night. That includes all home cooked meals.
