Incredible ....I didnt know that one can swim with the juvenile sea lions ...always thought they were a tab aggressive when approached. Video from http://sharibondy.wordpress.com is where I found this clip.
I guess her place is a must do stop this coming June. And NO, I am not promoting her website.
Just what time of the year can this be done?
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

We were there in July and went on Shari's sea lion adventure tour. Lionel swam with them and had a blast. They were very friendly and curious...not at
all agressive.
Had we had wetsuits for us all, we would have all been in the water, but it was cold!! The boat trip was incredible and Shari and Juan are the best!
Couldn't ask for a better hostess and host.

Fantastic! It is great to see a Family enjoying the Baj Area. Pacific or Inside.

Amen Skeet! I am going to try the same tactics with my stepson once I make it to La Paz. Fishing, diving, water skiing or wakeboarding, exploring.
Anything but Playstation and IPOD! Loving the smiles on the baby girls faces!!!

That is one of the main reasons we get done Mex way as often as possible. Oh,
yeah, and we don't have TV in our house either...
Since this is such a nice thread, I will add some more photos of our awesome day and sea lion adventure with Shari, Juan, and Sirena!
And if you search through the YouTube link, there are videos of our trip as well. We can't wait to get back and do this again!

Your kids are precious, and they obviously are very happy!! Keep up the great work!! I have a TV in La Mision, but no cable or Sat service! Good
movies, at night only! Of course the house in La Paz is fully equiped with SAT, internet, and TV's. I just need to pry a 16 year old away from them
somehow! Bribery??? Threats of violence upon electronics??? A mysterious burglary one day!!!!

Best thing about a kid traveling/camping.....and I remember this too....sleeping like a rock at the end of the day!
Good 4 ALL of you taking the kids there to Baja.....some older folks dont want to deal with kids and go on cruises

While that may be true in most situations, it is a known fact that the sea lions will warn you of whitey. Also, if whitey is around, at least you know
he's after his favorite snack and most likely, isn't going to bother with you. In Asuncion, however, this is a sea lion rookery, and not many
sightings of sharks have been spoken of, we asked. I'm sure they are out there, but with so many tasty sea lions...they aren't messing with the
tourists, or the locals for that matter.

Sea lions scare me a lot more than sharks! I know of two people that have been bit by sea lions, both have lost flesh due to infection.
I have no issues with people playing in nature but I will pass on watching they in the water.

We had so much fun that day! As you can see, we snorkel far from the rookery. The juveniles swim out to the boat and cant wait for people to get in
the water with them...they love to see the awkward geeks with black skin (wetsuits). We have never had a problem with aggressive sealions.
What makes this area so great for wildlife viewing is that the nature tours to Asuncion Island are easy to do because the island is so close...you are
there in five minutes so even small kids and people who get seasick can go because it's just a short anga ride and there are protected coves and areas
to snorkel in or just watch the antics of the sealions who crowd around the boat. There are dozens of beaches each one with a large group of sealions
and seabirds and during whale season, whales and dolphins are present as well! The Island is a special place with an interesting history. So even if
you dont want to jump in and play with the sealions, it is a really cool trip to take.
Snorkeling is nicest when the water has warmed up a bit from august-march.

maybe not the juveniles, but when they are in the rookery the bulls will run off any human that tries to
appoach them. happened to some kayakers that wanted to take pictures on one of the islands in SOC and they barely got away without capsizing

In my experience (California, SOC, Galapagos) the bulls are only aggressive during the mating season in the spring. For the rest of the year they are
passive and not curious about you as are the females and pups.
