Road construction south of Tecate
Heading south for Cabo tomorrow. Going through Tecate. (as have done so for many many years) anyone driven the road to Ensenada past week? Is it
still about 20 miles of construction?
Or has that been shortened any since this subject had come up about a month ago? Still prefer that drive, though will still be considering Blvd 2000
to Rosarito which we've NOT driven before. Hopefully can get a very recent update. Thanks you wonderful Nomad amigos.

It's only been about a week or so since our last update and at that time, it was hell.....about 20 miles of it, as you mentioned.
Can't expect too much progress in that short span of time, here or there. [more so here]
If anyone had a good, recent experience on the road, we would have heard about it.

17 miles now. Some of it on the new road. I seem to be the only one besides you that still prefers it over the "round about speedway"

Well, you will be on the free road for a few miles before you can hop on the toll road at Cantamar or beyond... The free road is 4 lanes wide now to
the Cantamar sand dunes.

You are not alone--it is still our preferred way.
Drove it last Tuesday mid-day---VERY light traffic, very few trucks, dirt part quite good, just a little confusing in places as to where to
drive---those markers are not always real clear and get knocked over, and then again, it may just be us.

Thanks, Amigo's. With these responses, we'll drive the construction. Especially now since it is 3 miles less dirt!!!!!! Glad dianaT was watching the Nomads today, to be able to comment.

What surprised me last month is that there was still a section near the summit where they had yet to doze the hill and rocks or start any grading.

I just went north the other day...I choose to take the toll road from Ensenada and wait 1 1/2 hours in line at TJ..not bad at all..in fact I enjoyed
the experience....

.......but I was chewing on a churro in a 34' motorcoach with a fridge stocked with cold 'brownies' and had a stewardess.

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

Ha! Now there's an idea - a little slide out panel . . . .
Although too late for Phil's trip, yes, there is still about 20 miles of construction, starting right out of town at Rancho Tecate. I did it in the
rain on the 8th - a better experience in dry weather and when you're rested.
But there is another section - 6 miles - of equally torn up road starting at La Grulla (south to north). I still think the Tecate route is better
than the toll road and waiting at San Ysidro. 1/2 hr. wait at the Tecate border on a Wednesday afternoon.

Dennis,
I really think you have a marketable idea there!
