Eureka Dunes
We try to get up to Death Valley at least once a year. This last trip we went to some areas we hadn't visited before. Eureka Dunes are at the
northern end of the part and at 700' tall are the tallest dunes in CA. Spectacular place. We were the only ones there during our 2 hour stop! You
do not need 4 wheel drive to get there, but it is some 60+ miles of graded roads from the turnoff by Scotty's Castle.
1948 Buick Roadmaster 2 door, straight 8, a rare ride in it's day!

Thanks for the comments.
When we were at the Charcoal Kilns it was 30 degrees and 30+ mph gusts! At sea level it was 70 degrees though.

Nice ones Ken, very nice. LOVE the processing on that old car---really makes it unique.
We were there for the first time last year and they are amazing. We drove there from the 395 side---great trip.

My son and I just came thru there about a month ago------it was HOT then (in the 90's). We had come north from Saline Valley, and then over the 4x4
road over Steel Pass, and down upon the Eureka Dunes from the SE, and out to Big Pine in Owens Valley---------incredible dunes, and most beautiful.
Great pics, for sure.

That is one route I 've yet to take. Have only been into/out of Saline Valley from the east and south, not the northern route. Thanks for the

Those are fabulous Ken. Thank you for the headsup on Eureka Dunes. I spent a few days in Death Valley last March and absolutely loved it. I had
forgotten how beautiful and eery it is. You really nailed the dunes!!

Thanks very much Ken. As mentioned by others the easiest access is from Big Pine. It has dry camping facilities, tables and one toilet. On a Friday
we were the only ones there during our 2 hour stop. It's liked by many Baja fans for a reason!!!

More great photos Ken - really enjoyed the photos of the Dunes as we used to go out there when I was a kid.
I remember seeing a book dedicated to photography of old, abandoned cars at a friends house years back. Great book and tried to find it online but no
luck.
