I stayed at Arturo's back in '96 for a good week-- $5/night. What a great family. We felt very much included.
The brothers' dad was still alive then, 90+ years old and quite sharp. He lived in a palapa in the upper campground and slept outside every night. We
had some great conversations. If I recall correctly, he said his father had been a cowboy with blue eyes and his mom an Indian. He had been born there
and dad had claimed the area and ran cattle.
Even then I thought it odd and unfair that he had divided the camp between the two sons geographically. Better to have held it collectively to be
obligated to work out their differences, imo.

Our group consisted of an extended family from Tijuana, co-workers (Professionals), not beer-guzzling rowdys tearing up the desert.

I didn't say that you were beer-guzzling rowdies....just wondered if you offered to assist them or just took pictures...

"Jeepers, motorhomers, campers with generators ruining the ambiance"? What about those crazy dirt bikers racing back and forth without regard to the
safety or quality of the Baja experience of the rest of us?  .....dt

David,
Yeah....they are next on the rant list....
My point here is that it appears that Ken stood back and took pictures of fellow off-roader (yes, in a Subaru.....but they made the effort to get to
Guadalupe) in distress.....does a person need a jeep to get help....not the BN spirit...:no
Gentlemen motorcycle enthusiasts might have offered a hand....or at least posted the pics of the guy in trouble even if they did not offer
assistance...

Then there are the dog-gone tree huggers - they forget they are in Baja and beg for mercy from all the spines and stickers of every bush and tree they
put their loving arms around - keep the comb or pliers handy.
Not to mention the "Hikers" wanting some of my precious water that I thoughtfully carried due to PLANNING, or want to squeeze in our truck for a ride
to the next oasis. "Beer? you got beer in that cooler?"
Or the crazy bicyclists on Highway 1 wreaking havoc on passing traffic causing others to swerve just to avoid their love for two wheeled adventure -
oh my aren't we tolerent!

The Subaru family were stacking rocks in a real tame section of the dirt road as they left Guadalupe Canyon. This section is a short distance from
the camp ground.
To erase our BAD KARMA, we helped another SUBARU that could not negotiate the extreme grades leading outside of GONZAGA to PUERTECITOS. Here's the
proof!
