Gnukid know's what "people people" are, and he writes about them all the time on this Forum---------"people people" is code for the minipulators who attempt to control EVERYTHING, ruin our lives, and they are larger than regular "people".

Beware of the people people!!!

For those of you who were around at that time, and for those of you who are students of history, the Eisenhower administration, Ike being a five star general and a Republican, was more liberal in its social and political outlook than are the Democrats of today.

Ike gave us the Interstate Highway system. Ike preached to us to warn us of the military-industrial complex, which today actually does rule the US.

I was reminded of this by Rachel Maddow, who on the Jay Leno program, stated that as liberal as she was, the Republicans of the Eisenhower era were to her left on many issues.

I just have to wonder what forces have conspired to drive this nation inexorably right for almost half a century. And whether it is a good thing or a bad thing. Just thinking about the historic demise of empires.
Why would something that made us more productive like the interstate highway system be considered either liberal or conservative, and what's left wing about warning us about the undue influence of corporations tied to the military? It's a false paradigm. Why does everything need to be labeled right or left, we should be asking instead: Does it make sense? Will it work? Is it efficient? Is it in our best interest? This ideological purity political caca is a game for two remarkably similar political parties to maintain a duopoly.

Word.

All this "right-left" crap is a distraction from the real problem. Our political system, ergo the country and by extension the world, is effectively controlled by a few hundred people people. Most of us are milked by the system for the profits of the few. Cable TV and the 24hr news cycle has been the death of us. Facts have been devalued and critical thinking crushed, might as well just put your head in a stanchion.

I need a beer...

So, despite the fact that the Koch Brothers (Google these guys) were the biggest contributors to the Wisconsin governor's campaign, and stand to gain immensely by destrying unions, Scott Walker is just doing what makes sense, huh?

No it doesn't make sense, just like a lot of the things that are being promoted by both parties these days.

It's been done before. The Florida Keys seceded from the Union in 1982.
