Just Another Day in Baja

We stopped at a taco stand in the village of Primo Tapia (about 10 miles south of Rosarito) before shopping at the excellent produce store there (best strawberries ever, sweet and so fragrant; two-inch diameter, red-skinned new potatoes, and much, much more), Distribudoras Lupita, Mayoreo and Menudeo.

So, you never are supposed to go shopping hungry and we were hungry and in a hurry.

The solo cook there had piercings; several in his ears, some in his nose and who knows where else. When I asked for the check, he put a plastic sleeve on his hand before he touched my money.

I overpaid the bill by one peso by accident. He counted carefully and handed me back the one extra peso.

I like your posts, Jan. Whether about dogs (always my favorite..we have FIVE) or about the simple honesty of a guy at a taco stand, good for a smile and it is obvious you love Mexico. We do, too, and are looking forward to an eventual move to Baja from Mazatlan.
