we are in la paz again
we are in la paz and tomorrow morning we shall have coffee atl CAFENIO's coffee house on the malecon (someone once posted that they have free intenet
there).
we would love to meet any baja nomaders
look for a gorda blanca in a bright yellow shirt with BRASIL on the back and look for a gordo Les with crazy scary blue eyes
doing internet and drinking coffee.
BTW we found a decent hotel called HOTEL BAJA CALIFORNIA for 300 pesos a night with a 50 peso deposit for remote control. It is on the main road that
leads to the malecon= MARIANO ABASOLO 125-0368 (I think the area code here is 612).

Well, I'm not in La Paz, but if I were I'd hike my skirts 'n trot on down for a chat, Blanca.
Will be thinking of you over coffee time tomorrow morning; hope to see you soon.

hi all - here we are at cafenios and yes, it is convenient, the coffee is delicous and the view is awesome. the easiest way to find it is to look for
the jumpig whale statue right on the malecon. cafenios is right in front.
it is reallly HOT here
today I fly to the capital to get my papers as you guessed tio.
the hotel baja california is not so good after all 
the water in the shower pools at your feet
the a/c is limited as to how cool it gets and I really feel the heat as we are not used to it in la bocana
did I menntion it is hot in la paz ???????? melting melting
BTW which is the best place for breakfast around here ? we did la fonda and loved it but would love to have another option
and which is the best place to get plants at a reasonable price ?

Amiga, be ready for cold Mexico City! From Hot to Cold!! Palms, plants out on the hwy by WalMart/Home Depot. Don't know breakfast but Chinese??!

Last week was rather sunny and steamy but as of yesterday there appears to be another storm front moving across central Mexico, tio's right, get ready
for a major drop in temperature when you hit DF.

Just missed you, left La Paz last Friday, will be back in La Paz 8/30 for 12 days. You are at my favorite coffee shop in La Paz. I am there most
days when in La Paz. The view is magnificent. You aught to try it again at dusk if you can.
Try the cheese enchiladas (only $45 pesos) at Rancho Viejo II just three doors up from Cafenios and try a margarita two doors away at The Jungle
open-air bar (just $30 pesos). And, say hello to Don Johnston next door at the tiny real estate office.
If you turn left out of Cafenio's and walk about a 1/2 block you will come to a walkway/extended narrow plaza where there are several OK restaurants
and an authentic gelato stand with gelato every bit as good as the best in Italy. Owned by an Italian. If you go by there, you will probably see an
old hippy friend of mine by the name of "Rainbow Hawk", can't miss him, always there sitting at his PC surfing the internet. He sports a straw
colored cowboy hat and has the longest head of white hair you have ever seen. Say hello to him, he'd like that, so will you.
BTW, La Paz nomads, internet access is no longer totally "free" at the Exquisito coffee shops in/near La Paz. You have to buy something in order to
get the ever changing info to get on the internet, that goes for all of them in La Paz, including the one two miles south of the airport turn off on
Carretera al Norte on the way to Centenario.

Plants,
There are several if not more nurseries in and around La Paz. The one I go to is on the street that is continuous with the malecon as you go in a
southerly direction toward the airport turnoff. About 2/3's the way from the malecon toward the airport turn off (or Walmart) on the right hand side
of the street, there is a small but well stocked and cared for nursery that looks a bit like the front yard of a house with a chain link fence. If
you pass the El Sol (or is it the Del Mar?) hotel/motel, you've gone too far south.
Note that the street that constitutes the malecon is named Alvaro Obregon, as you head south it becomes Abasolo and then at some point it becomes the
Carretera al Norte. Not sure exactly where all those begin and end, but it is one continuous street/hwy. I don't know why foreign countries do that,
it is ten times worse in Paris. Every block is a different name.

i cant wait to get back and try that icecream, believei t or not, i was actually craving an italian ice cream while in la paz. now i am in mexico
city. but in 3 days ...gelato here we come
the temp in mexico city is so comfortable ..it must be 70 or so ...what a delight. and no rain. and cloudy skies which is probably why the temps are
cool.

Only 2 more months before we will drive south again and will meet up with your sister in SD before crossing the border.

Mitchman - we actually stopped by that nursury that looks like a front yard and no one was there, but I saw that I have most of those plants.
Les met Don but I had already met a Canadian named Sean a bit earlier while Les was buying our coffees ... very nice guy.
I thought <I saw another nursery as we were coming into town but further out, we tried to find it and couldnīt.
Leo, you have to come to la bocana .... the road is completely paved, except in our village of course. come hang out for a couple days....make sure
you FILL UP on gas as you go thru Vizcaino. after Vizcaino, take the first right heading to PUNTA ABREOJOS. then once in punta abreojos, drive
straight and take a right on Calle Miguel Dominguez. You will be on salt flats that are smooth as can be. we call this the la bocana freeway. just
make sure you only stay on hard packed road. what lies to the side of it is salt and mush and you will get stuck. at any forks you find, always bear
right as you head north. this takes you slightly away from the lagoon so there is no chance of water. trust me, this is a good thing.
once in la bocana or 10 miles later, look for calle erizo or ask for blanca de las bicis (bicycle blanca). we are at the far north end - 2 story white
house. the only 2 story on that small street. if you are at the church, follow straight past the kindergarden - turn first left and turn first right.
voila. there we are !!!
as always folks, Gilberto the attorney who handled my paperwork was fantastic. just amazing. but that will be on another thread cause I have lots to
share.
heading to la paz in a couple hours !!! can I take this wonderful cool weather from mexico city with me ???????????????
