Interesting that you mention that, Tio. There are strict regulations concerning displaying the flag and other national symbols and that's why you
don't see them being sold at other times of the year. The flag isn't supposed to be displayed by individuals as it is in the USA.
I see expats flying the Mexican colors all year and wonder what the Nationals think about that....knowing that it breaks a strict rule.
Some years back, a very popular US music group was playing in the Azteca Stadium in DF and one of the players had the Mexican flag painted on his
guitar.
Well...the stuff hit the fan big time and he was fined heavily for his indiscretion.
Other instances have occured.
There is actually a government agency that is in charge of protecting national symbols. I'll ty to find some info on that.
In the mean time....after Independence day, It's suggested that we take down the flag.

Dennis,
Thanks for that info.
Many, many years ago I was stopped by a security guard at the campo La Jolla driveway because I had a Mexican flag bandanna tied around my
Bullmastiff Rosie's neck. He took Rosie's hankie off, stuffed it in his pocket and chastised me pretty severely. I thought he was offended that I had
the flag on my dog. I guess he was. Little did I know that it was a law.
Come to think of it, these chairs that we used to have were in poor taste as well.

Our flag in Bahia wore itself down to it's last thread this summer. I had planned on replacing it a.s.a.p. but now I guess I won't.

Yeah....I think a National might be able to get away with a few things, but we shouldn't be disrespecting their symbols or flaunting ours.
Put up a Canadian flag. They don't care.

Love it! That is a great road.
So wish we were in BA tonight to celebrate El Grito with our good friends.
Viva Mexico!
OK, part of the road out of BA is really awful right now, so now this thread is definitely in the right category.
Thank you tiotomas and we hope to see you again soon.
on edit---thread has been moved, so overlook the road report.

Dennis that is very interesting. Many racers I assume from the US have both flags flying on their trucks and buggies. I wonder if they know.

I'm sure they don't, but the Mexicans are aware of it although they probably couldn't care less.
On the other hand, some little government worm could take offense and cause trouble. It might not be worth upsetting anyone.
And.....it would be an issue of tainted respect.....I suppose.
Ignorance of the law is no excuse.

One of the vendors in Santa Rosalia who was selling flags and lots of other stuff had a Red, Green, and White wig with the seal on it. Guess that is
a real stretch too.
