COSTCO CASA DE CAMBIO
After no problem for a couple of years I was refused access to the Casa de Cambio at Costco C.V. Tuesday.
I was told I must be a member to give them money and have them give me back less money.
Even though I do not utilize any of the other numerous services and products available through their award winning facility I was told by the manager
I needed to pay $50 cash American to get a card that say's I can get ripped-off at their money exchange facility.
Sigh...

I can't believe you don't have a Costco Card. I thought everybody had one.
Don't you have a friend that has one that you can use?

As an aside.....If I remember correctly, we only pay 300 Ps here in Ensenada for a card and as far as I know, they can be used in the states as well.
Can anyone verify this? I'm not completely sure and don't feel like taking the drive to check it out.
I will....one day next week however.
ps....I do recall when Costco, Ensenada, opened, I was using my stateside card until it expired.

We had a Costco card in Cabo and it worked up here until it expired.

My Canadian membership, which can be used in US & Mexico, expired in Baja last winter. A COSTCO employee in Canada had said I could renew in
Mexico and that it would cost a bit less less than in Canada. I went to check out the Cabo COSTCO and renew my card.
It is not possible to renew a Canadian membership at Cabo COSTCO, so I renewed it on-line. Purchases in Mexico do not qualify in the Canadian Reward
Coupon system. I suspect this is the same for US COSTCO membership.
You can buy a Mexican COSTCO membership and then your purchases in Mexico qualify in the Mexican COSTCO rewards system. I imagine one would need an
address in Mexico to get the reward coupon?

I waltzed into the Ensenada Costco with a US card last week, no worries.
Question: Is there a Casa de Cambio in the Ensenada store?
I didn't think to check.

Correct for here as well. One has to purchase a Costco Mexico card.
All the same to me.

Imagine I can just walk in with someone else, should not be a problem as they never ask for a card at the cambio.
Dennis I have absolutely no need for a Costco card. When I had family I was using Price Club to buy everything for the three refrigerators and a
freezer that supplied the entire swim team hang-out and every other teen that happened by at our house in Coronado, but now, no-need.
It's their "policy", it's their shop, screw-em.

OK.....if they've changed their policy, you may need a card to do business at the Cambio.
I don't know if it's the same up there, but here you need a card to buy a hot dog from the outside stand. It makes me feel....well....special, like at
a Yacht Club or something like that.

Sorry, Dennis - I know of no Yacht Clubs (Club de Yachtes) that take Costco, Walmart or Sam's Club.
Sorry!
If you come to San Diego, I'd be happy to have you as my guest. SDYC is just around the corner from our boat yard.

Why...thank you, Mike. I have to say though, I belong to the Punta Banda Yacht Club and as funky as it is, there are reciprocal agreements in place
with other Clubs. A recent Admiral or Commodore, whatever he was, visited a Club on the East Coast and was treated like visiting royalty.
If any of you Nomads want to belong to a legit Yacht Club, let me know. A stringent nautical exam will be given, but I'll give you the one question
and answer here:
Question.......Spell Boat
Answer....B-o-t
Welcome to the Yacht Club.
Thanks again, Mike. Nice offer.
