Military Check Point Free Road/N. Ensenada

Military checkpoint on Free Road near El Tigre/Wine Route yesterday stopped me and did a five minute search of my vehicle. Asked me for my name, ID,
where I was coming from and where I was going. Gave them my driver's license.
They also scribbled information in a spreadsheet. Mine was first and only info on spreadsheet. I asked "Why the new procedure?". "No problema" was
the reply.
Anyone who has seen my 1989 "classic" Jeep Cherokee knows that it isn't very suspicious looking. Maybe it was me?
I did have two cases of wine, which was my normal BevMo "importation", my golf bag and my travel bag from recent trip. The travel bag and golf bag
were thoroughly searched and I watched carefully to see that nothing was removed.
This ever happen to anyone else?

Came south to Mulege Sunday/Monday last. Was asked twice for my passport at military checkpoints. I believe they just wanted an easy way to copy my
name into some form they using. Gave them passport one time and FM-3 the other. Not sure what the response would have been if I didn't have the
passport and/or FM-3 - as stated above I do not think they were checking for passports, just using them as an easy way to get the information for the
form they were filling out. Didn't really inspect my truck - just a quick glance and wished me good luck fishing in Mulege. Jim

I have California plates, however as I stated above, I believe the reason I was asked for a passport was to make it easier to fill out the form the
military was using. Jim

I'll be going back - Mulege to Tecate - next week and hope I get the same treatment. I'll try to give a road report when I get back. Jim
