Any News About Erewhon?

The historic Von Tempsky ranch on the slopes of Haleakala that we heard was bought by a Japanese investor some years ago.

NOTE: Baja related anecdote! My husband used to play polo with von Tempsky back in the day and we ran into him at the La Fonda hotel and restaurant in La Mison a few years ago.

Von Tempsky is about eighty-six years old now and he had wife number six or seven or otherwise new girlfriend with him.

Thanks Dennis for the Literary Reference

Maybe von Temsky's father, Louis, was inspired by the novel.

The time frame is certainly compatible.

Here is a link to Louis von Tempsky's biography and intiation into the Paniolo Hall of Fame:

My wife just returned from there and was charged $31 for a chicken ceasar salad

Stayed in Kihei for a week back in 1981...

went up to see sunrise on top of the volcano Haleakala (sp?) drove to the secret beach, time in Lahaina, drove to Hana (tried to find Lindbergh's grave)... (never did)

Fun times...
