marines ck'n fishing lic. - Mulege

Just a reminder - Make sure you and everyone on board has their fishing license with them while fishing from a boat. If anyone is fishing, all persons on board need a lic. They are doing spot checks near Mulege.

For those of us not in the know, perhaps you could give us some info on how/where to acquire a fishing license and its cost.

There most certainly is but one side to every story: the TRUTH. Variations of it are nothing but lies.

One way is online

Mexican Fishing Licences Online

Click on the American flag for English, but the prices shown will still be in pesos.

thanks, Diana!

i thought everyone knew the rules! it is a SMALL price to pay for the chance to experience fishing like the US had 50 years ago. we buy ours every October and juggle the trip dates so we can get 2 trips out of each license....

They checked a couple of boats from Chivato today and spent a long time with the shrimper anchored out front.
A whale was just reported in the bay off shore from the air strip. I'm looking for it but so far no luck.

To make it very clear....we have a MFL.

But I am curious to hear any real stories about those that got caught w/o a license...what happened?

Got checked a couple weeks ago while anchored in San Basilio. Very courteous and no problems. Seems a long way from Loreto when they tell us they have no gas to patrol the illegal fishing going on just off shore.

I got checked while driving out of Auga Verde while towing a boat. Not sure what they would have done had we not had licenses since we were not in the water at the time and didn't have any fish. They told us they could confiscate the boat and equipment. They were very courteous, and professional. I got the impression the stop was more informational than confrontational.

the fine for not having a license is 20-30,000 pesos levied against the ownder of the boat....and they can confiscate boat and/or gear.
