America's Cup Trials in San Diego
Recently we had the opportunity to see these Cats blast across the bay. With enough wind these can reach 30 knots!!!
the start.......

Great photos! We watched them from the deck of the MIDWAY and loved it. Very different but still alot of fun. This is a preliminary series of
races called the World Series races and are held all over the world as an exhibiton to build up interest in the America's Cup races that will be held
next year in San Francisco. The wind in Plymouth, England was so strong that 3 or 4 of them capsized.

I still think the America Cup should be for 10 meter yachts and cats should be banned. Screw Conner.

What's your problem?
How do you think cats got to these shores? swam? Cats have always been a part of sailing and as long as they have a catvest on for emergencies than
they should have the opportunity to board any vessel under any circumstance, even sans cat box provisions!
Oh yea, a dog would probably be no problem...although you don't see a leash restraint requirement for your cat riding in the back of a pickup!
Get a life...put cats back in the America's Cup!

These 45' cats will be replaced with a 72' boat for the cup races. While only 1/2 again longer at the waterline these monsters will carry FOUR times
the sail area. Estimated top speed at 45 knots!
They will be a b-tch to sail. FAR more difficult than the old class boat.
