Too tiny... looks like a clothes pin on a chain link fence? Is that a dead mouse? If it is, the idea is it will prevent live mice from entering
through.

It probably has something to do with witchcraft. My family sent me seeds to scatter all over a neighbors yard to make her go away. We also find
headless roosters and watermelons on the beach after a full moon. I think these pagan beliefs are more widely believed and practised that people
know.
Then again it could just be a scrap of lambs wool pinned to a chain link fence...

Ok, here is the story. For many years we have had to have mouse and rat traps set 24/7 in our ramada to keep the number of rodents in check, mainly
due to our ground feeding of birds. Last year we had an accident in that a cactus wren got it's leg caught in a rat trap. We felt terrible and
released Hoppy.
This year Hoppy was again around and doing well, even creating a nest. My wife noticed that Hoppy was looking for nest making material and we got the
idea to visit a cattle and sheep ranch nearby where we collected sheep wool that was stuck on barb wire fencing. We brought the wool back and used
clothes pins to put clumps around the netting that is on top of our palapa roof. Hoppy apparently took all the wool and we assume lined her nest.
Today my wife was checking out a nest that we think is Hoppy's and low and behold, the little dickens has stolen on of my Sabiki bait jigs and
installed it in her nest!!!! The nest is on top of an outside light that is about 12 ft in the air. This thievery is probably ok as the yellowtail
bite is pretty much over and I don't need the shrimp flies to catch mackerel.
