Ensenada's Tequila and Mariachi Fair

From The Baja Times

"The city of Ensenada is organizing the first "Tequila and Mariachi Fair" to be held on July 14th and 15th, 2012. The event will be hosted at the Ex-Hotel Riviera del Pacifico. (The place where the world famous "Margarita Drink" was invented at the "Andaluz Bar"). This internationally recognized and historic place is also valued by UNESCO as cultural patrimony.

This first edition of the "T equila and Mariachi" Festival intends to divulge, strengthen, and promote "Tequila" as a milestone of the Mexican identity. This Festival will give the opportunity to promote abroad, not only our products, but also traditions.

Throughout the two days, the fair will host many cultural and musical activities in the "Tequila and gastronomic" area. This event expects around 4,000 visitors. There will be gastronomic workshops and tequila based mixed drinks, directed by the Gastronomic and Enology School of the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California, offering the visitors different ways to enjoy this popular drink.

Some of the activities at the fair will include musical events, located inside the exposition area, and an international contest, including some of the best Mariachi bands from the USA and the State of Baja California, will take place at the outdoor theater.

The event will have and admission cost of $20.00 Dolars at pre-sale and 25.00 dollars at the door the day of the event. Tickets include a commemorative tequila glass and many free tequila and gastronomic tasting as well as different contests and shows during the event. Also, there is a two-day ticket which costs 32.00 dlls at pre-sale and 40.00 at the box office the day of the event."
