Interesting graphic. It could be the distribution chain of Walmart, or FedEx, or any other large, sophisticated company. It just happens that what these folks are peddling is drugs, which find their market in everywhere that WalMart does.

This really isn’t any different than it would have been forty years ago. What has changed is the source and entry point. Once East Coast drugs were trafficked from Asia Minor, via Europe, and West Coast drugs came from eastern Asia. When those routes were disrupted, Columbia and adjacent countries became the source and the Caribbean was the transit point. Thanks (?) to the Coast Guard and DEA, those routes became very difficult and now the preferred route is through Mexico. If the US ever shuts down that path, where is the next best entry point? Canada? Maybe there will be a Golden Triangle trafficking revival.

The US consumes drugs—that is not new, and the distribution network is old and established. The only difference is the players.

This guy just got popped in Tiajuana with $1,000,000.00 American in cash. The article says hes responsible for importing as much as $24,000,000. And all from a small Mariscos shop in Tiajuana.

See, that proves it, there is no path in Concepcion Bay to Buenaventura even though we keep hearing about how much is being sold down there and it is supposed to be a major cartel unloading spot. (like Pangas full of drugs are going to go halfway down a bay that could easily be closed off at one end to make deliveries in an area that is constantly frequented by tourists).
Guess they just stop in for Turtle soup.
