scuttlebutt on punta abreojos PEMEX
we heard thru the grapevine that the new gas station is going to open, officially, for service on Sept. 1,2012.
Shall we hold our breaths ?

Blanca,
As I was told 3 weeks ago -- the certification process was being conducted as I was on site. They need to send test results and then the opening
would proceed.
I know nothing about the economics of the site -- which could be holding it back -- maybe whoever owns it doesn't have enough $$$ to open.
It's not cheap to open a gas station....Guessing the new owner is taking on debt from whoever built it and never opened it.

new ownership is a partnership between one of the old owners (old ownership was a partnership as well) and the Punta Abreojos COOP.

I have not heard the term "scuttlebutt" in many years. My Dad told me it was an old Navy term, from way back during WW II. A scuttlebutt was a
drinking fountain, where everyone would hang out and tell stories about current events/rumors, etc. ! Brings back old memories of my Dad. May he
rest in peace!
The SAME boiling water that softens the potato hardens the egg. It's about what you are made of NOT the circumstance.

Scuttlebutts were (and probably still are) the site where sea lawyers pontificated over matters like who is on the promotion list, going to captain's
mast, how seaman so and so lost his ass in the enlisted head crap game. Sorta does the same job a like a bulletin board does now.
