October's Baja California Culinary Fest

From The Los Angeles Times

By S. Irene Virbila

"It's just a month off, the second annual Baja California Culinary Fest celebrating Baja Med cuisine. Held Oct. 11-14, it takes place in cities throughout northern Baja. What's happening? Special dinners, cooking classes, competitions and music -- and a slew of guest chefs from Sinaloa and California.

Hey, it's not that far. Travel south to participate in the six-course guest chef dinner prepared by Luis Osuna, Marino Maganda and Julian Portugal of Sinaloa, who will be cooking alongside Bernard Guillas of La Jolla (Calif.) and Javier Plascencia, Miguel Angeles Guerrero and Benito Molina of Baja.

But the festival isn't all eating. There's a cheese cellar tour with Marcelo Castro, cheesemaker at Cava de Marcelo, and a sailing trip on Ensenada Bay that ends with noshing at the famous La Guerrerense ceviche tostada cart. And of course no food festival is complete without wine tastings, and at this one has nearly 70 wineries participating."
