Conde Nast Traveler Gold List for 2013

"World's Best Places to Stay, Top Hotels, Resorts, Cruise Lines"

In Mexico, in Baja, the highest rated place is Rancho La Puerta Fitness Resort & Spa, in Tecate.

An overall rating of 98.5.

All the other usual places in Cabo and elsewhere in Cancun, Riviera de Maya, Acapulco, etc., are rated lower - but not by not by much.

Don't you have to be overweight to stay at La puerta? Oh, maybe it's only your wallet that has to be overweight.

a Saturday half day spa and vegeterian dinner has a Standard Cost: $235.00 per person (no room included).
They have a 1 week special for Jan 19-26 (6 nights):
Each year we pick a sampling of weeks for our "Simple Prices" promotion. Guests love these because you can garner huge savings on some of our larger rooms that--during these weeks only--cost no more than a "Ranchera." As always, our rates are all-inclusive, and we NEVER have a service charge!
•$2,850 Singles, per-person+tax (Ranchera)
THAT'S ONLY $475/night

Yep, they can do all that, eat rabbit food and stay as far away from Mexico as possible. Room and food and staff for a dozen people would cost around twelve dollars a night each. The hard mattress is good for your back! No second helpings on the celery! Water is good for you! Yes we have extra blankets!
