Great guest choice Ted! Graham is extremely entertaining to hear. Walking 4,000 miles around and down the middle of Baja is something most of us could only dream about!

I will look forward to hearing the show tomorrow evening or as soon as my pc can connect to World Talk Radio... some times it takes a few attempts... but it is worth it!

hey! did anyone else besides me hear Jerry Hahn, son of long time baja aviator Larry Hahn, call in with some great stuff about the "old days"? Thx Jerry, enjoyed it. All can hear the shows anytime via the archives. Looking forward to seeing you or your Dad in that Aztec at the Serenidad soon. Check out their web site at www.bajadreams.com :)

Mike, that was Larry... You met him at Viva Baja 3, as he was the other pilot who flew in from out of state to attend my fiesta in Oceanside. He mentioned to Graham that he met Graham there.

Really?? you

sure? Thought it was Jerry, as he mentioned flying in with his Dad.
I know Larry of course - he leads the El Paso faithful to Mulege every year for the Whale pilgrimage. When Larry and Don get together and the stories start "flying" you wish you had a tape recorder.....these legends are getting up in years now. Wish someone would begin collecting vignettes, they're priceless.

Yah, Larry came solo. He was the first guest at the restaurant and spent time showing me his old Senterfitt books. It was Larry's dad in the 1950s... Larry's web site is http://www.bajadreams.com with historic pilot photos!

Here is Larry, Capt. Munoz (Baja Air Service), and Don Johnson at the 40th birthday party for Serenidad.

Larry Hahn

David K & Capt. Mike, it was Larry Hahn who called. His father also flew into Baja so there's three generations of flying Hahns. He may be a guest someday.

Just got back from a week in Baja and spoke with Don Johnson. Great guy with lots of stories.

thx Ted - yes i had it wrong.

Larry would make a huge guest - i only wish i had the years' worth of baja experience of Larry's. Especially the 50's and 60's. his web site is awesome on pictures and history.

i had to 1/2 listen to the show 'cause at work and when i caught discussion about "flying in to Diaz with my Dad" i thought it was Jerry who posts a lot on the BBP site as well. Plumb Forgot Larry did the same thing with his!

At DK's viva 3 where i 1st met Larry, who bested me in the long distance catagory by flying in for the party from EL PASO, He told me about Don Johnson's famed love for ice cream - which was hard to get in the early days of developing resort properties around mulege (Johnson built 3 distinct properties over 40 years!). So he handed me $20 and said get Don some ice cream on your next trip south!

Later Don was story tellin' and told me how he and the Mrs. used to regularly dine on "the Duke's" yacht moored off the lighthouse point when he'd show up with his buddies to fish in the 60s. The chef confided to Don one evening chatting in the ship's galley that Mr. Wayne gave strict orders that whenever they headed for the sea of cortez the freezer was to be fully stocked with rocky road - Don's favorite!

I earlier asked Diana, Don's daughter and current hotel manager what ice cream Don would appreciate, and she smiled and said, "Oh, he REALLY likes rocky road!" ;)
