The sky is not falling in Loreto - Bancomer

Rumor to the contrary notwithstanding, Bancomer in Loreto is still dispensing cash to U S debit cards. I went to the bank in the central plaza this morning and the ATM there quickly counted out 5,000 pesos from my U S account. I then went to Ley where the Banamex ATM coughed up 5,000 more pursuant to touch screen instruction. Both withdrawals were from a Charles Schwab account so at the end of the month Chuck will repay all fees charged by both banks.
It is a good rumor, though. One that seems to resurface every couple of months.
With daily highs flirting with triple digits and fishing not so great, gringos in Loreto need something to talk about. Like news in Washington in August when congress is not in session and everybody is on vacation and any story printed can get legs and run for two or three news cycles.

Classic Baja gossip/rumor mill BS. Some things never change, eh? This last one sounded too BAD to be true. Thanks for the info.
