BOLA Internet Question
We are headed down in April. I would like nothing better than emailing a Baja photo to my coworkers while I am there.
Do any of the internet connections (Gecko or the two story market/restaurant) have the capability to do so?
What type of connection would I need. (My computer knowledge is limited).

I have never posted a photo from any of the 3-4 places in Bahia de Los Angeles that offer Internet services, but there are several ways you can do it
that I'm sure you could. The places are Doc's, Xitlali, Raquel and Larrys, the telephone kiosk, and La Isla Market. Ther may be others. Ifg you
can't figure it out, ask the workers there. I've had nothing but good luck.

You'd probably have to save the photo file to the computer you're using then attach it to the email, so the questions I wonder about are: Do the
computers have a program that would allow you to change the file size so it would be easier to send and do the computers have the USB or fire wire
port to connect to your camera to download the photos in the first place? Let us know what you find out?

If you bring a laptop down with you, it would be no problem to save the photo on floppy disk and then open on an internet cafe's computer with the
floppy. The next easiest thing would be to bring a USB card reader and open the photo directly from the card.

We brought a laptop down last time and watched Y tu mama tambien--we watched half of it until the battery died at an inopportune time

You should be able to upload without too much difficulty. I maintain the computers at Mini-Market Lizzeth, and I would be happy to lend you some
assistance.
The easiest route would be to download your photos to a computer, then upload from there. More than likely your camera has a USB transfer cable.
This can be plugged directly into a computer, and with either a Windows2000 or WindowsXP operating system your camera should show up as a Mass Storage
Device or Removable drive. No extra software is needed.
Once connected, you can either upload directly from your camera, or drag/drop and copy the photos to the hard drive, and then upload them.
If you need to re-size the photos first, I can help you with that also. We have the software available on our machines. Piece of cake.

This is the place I always posted from in Bahia (when not using Doc's lap top at Gecko)... It is just before Las Hamacas with FAX and long distance
phone service as well. Internet is fast, was only 30 pesos an hour, and Baja Nomad was on the computer's desk top!
China 'Chee-nah' has her taco and birria stand in front.
