Wow! Never heard of this behavior near sd/TJ before. Hope they don't stick around for gray whale migration.

Orcas often harass/kill grays. You see a lot of adults with bite marks on their flukes.

Killer whales off Baja

Orca whales were sighted hunting off shore from Playas de Tijuana. Great pictures.
Wow.

Williams wrote: “A surfer in black wetsuit was in the water, and three large orcas approached him in a semicircle to about 30 yards/meters, and each in turn did a ‘spyhop’ maneuver, wherein they surface in a high vertical posture and hover high up for a few seconds—perhaps threatening?

“Or perhaps just to look, or to announce their presence or claim territory. It was quite beautiful, and he got out quickly.”

No doubt "got out quickly" but with a little extra weight in the back of his wet suit! Would really be something to watch...from the shore!

What the heck is an Eastern Tropical Pacific Killer whale? It mentions it on the article but I've never heard of "tropical" orca's...

I´ve seen orcas in Cabo and almost every year down here 19.2 and 104.5. Where ever there is food they are there.

I read about this on Friday afternoon. My surf session on Saturday morning was not as relaxed as usual. That is intense stuff!
