Today's Photo - Surfboards and Motorcycles and..?
I take it there's some surfing beach near here. All I can say is...that's one way to keep the motorcycles from zooming between the cars.

I was in line at San Ysidro one long Sunday afternoon a couple of years ago with my wife in my pickup. There was a huge Mongols Harley club ride to
Ensenada. We had seen them all weekend.
What they would do while going North at the border was have a guy cut his front wheel in front of a cars front tire and stop a car so 40 of his
buddies could get by between cars. This happened a few times to me and others and I had it. The next guy who crept up on the right side of the truck
tried this and I rolled fwd thinking I would nudge him off.
Weeeeelllllllll As I rolled fwd, before I touched his bike, he looked at me and started screaming and pounding his fist on my truck. My wife tried to
disappear in the seat..... and after a few choice words directed at him I decided I was going to get out of the truck with an 18" spanner and
rearrange his furniture.
When I came around the front of my truck he pointed at his right foot while screaming. I looked down at his left foot .......firmly planted under my
right tire.
Priceless!!!!!!!
I got back in and rolled fwd and he sped off.

I had a friend, an Attorney, with the exact same measurements as you--------he took NO static from ANYBODY, and I saw him in action several
times----------once we were in line for the Ferry between Coronado and San Diego and a guy cut in front of him to get in the active line-------my
friend just kept driving right into the side of the offending vehicle (crunch). The other driver got out of his car furious---- my friend got out
too----- the other guy took one look and got back in his car and that was the end of that. Size and bearing matters!!!

That's a great story. Would have made a great video. Cutting in line with more than 1 bike just aint right.
I routinely cross on my bike and I'm respectful when I get to the front of the line. I stop at the front right side of the lane and get my passport
card out and wait until a driver motions for me to go ahead. Usually the next car in line hesitates and lets me go. I make eye contact and mouth a
thank you or a wave. Interestingly, I've noticed almost always the drivers who don't let me in are women. I wonder about that.

Ateo...Yes, I'm pretty sure I took the surfboard out the window photo in Carlsbad. Hwy 101 heading north towards Oceanside. We've taken the scenic
101 so many times ....always a favorite drive from Seattle to Astoria to San Diego.
Fun Stuff!
Got to love all the motorcycle stories. Been there and done that, too. I road a motorcycle for many years, but never got into the bad habit of
passing between cars when the lanes were full. Just seems like a good way to get clipped, plus being bad manners.

Here's a nice motorcycle story for you.
A little while back..oh, maybe 20 years or so...I was motorcycling out west from ND to Baja and met some fellow bikers in Newport while doing that
beautiful Oregon coast ride. Come to think of it, we first met on Bay Boulevard, not too far from nomad Sharksbaja's great cafe in the tourist
district. We all rode over to the Oregon Oyster Company to get some succulent Yaquina Bay oysters.
We visited from some time and shared stories about places we'd been on our cycles. They were all from Oregon..with their pretty wives and
girllfriends..all having a great time on their Harleys. Called themselves The Bend "Harley Hogs" and were a very congenial group. During our talks I
told them about what I thought would be a really great trip for them. The Baja Highway. And before parting company I gave them my Coyote Bay address.
Sure enough later that winter a half-dozen Harleys thunder into my driveway. Each Harley carried one guy/one gal. It was great to see them again. We
partied at mi casa and did some fun rides around Mulege and Conception Bay in the next few days.
p.s. I did not start that forest fire behind me in Idaho.
First...all this group rode were Harley Davidson's. Harley riders are a brand-loyal group, as lots of nomads will know. My motorcycle at that time was
a Kawasaki Vulcan. A nice dependable road machine, but .. NOT A HARLEY.
One afternoon, we had all rode down to Buenaventura..then it was George's Ole beach cafe... for some mushroom burgers. It was pretty warm that day and
we all wore lighter, comfy riding gear.
I was especially impressed with the outfit that one very pretty gal was wearing. A skimpy, but beeeyoootiful bikini top and open riding chaps with
just a thong. Like Skeet says, "A nekid woman on a motorcycle"...well, almost.
(Gotta tell you I rode caboose behind her most of the day and never saw such great scenery on that highway before.)
Anyway, we are now parked next to the beach cafe and we start yakking about our bikes.
I was trying to explain my choice of the Vulcan over a Harley, when the gorgeous top and bare-bottomed riding chaps beckons me over to the Harley she
is sitting on. She scoots back a bit on the seat and tells me to take the front. I manage to do that facing away from her, grabbing the handlebars and
straddle the Harley.
She leans forward and stretches around me to reach the ignition key...starts the Harley with a Vrrrooomm..rummble-rrrrrummble..you know, the great
sound & vibration only a Harley can achieve.and she purrs...
"Now.. doesn't that feel better?"
I traded the Vulcan.
I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me.

Typically, being a hothead with uncontrolled temper is not something to brag about, eh?
from wikipedia:
As early as 1997, therapists in the United States were working to certify road rage as a medical condition. It is not an official mental disorder in
the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. According to an article published by the Associated Press in June 2006, the behaviors
typically associated with road rage can be the result of intermittent explosive disorder. This conclusion was drawn from surveys of some 9,200 adults
in the United States between 2001 and 2003 and was funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.[5] The cause of intermittent explosive disorder
has not been described to date. There are differing views on whether or not "road rage" is a mental issue. Regardless of whether it is or not, there
are alternative solutions for overcoming this handicap.
Share the road!
Dont worry, be happy!

I gotta respect a man's ability to know his own limitations. One thing I know about riding is; The sure way to never have an accident on a cycle is
to not ride one.
