This is from a hot 1963 Acapulco beach.
Can you guess what kind of beer that is?
Remember the old steel cans that are collector items today? Back then, lime and salt made it go down easy when it got warm.
Here's the really weird thing...we lugged many 12-packs of that beer from the USA to Acapulco. Very close to whatever is the world's
worst beer. What were we thinking??!

Funny how I can lose my car keys in two seconds.............but remember TV and radio jingles from when I was growing up.
Listening to baseball on the radio since I was eight, I remember a lot of beer jingles.

Back again and Yes to both AKGringo and Hook...Black Label beer it was. I think it was on a par with Moosehorn. Why did we take that swill to
Mexico? Because we bought it for half-price from one of our group's relatives, a beer distributor. Even then, I think we got the worst of the
deal...

In the fall of 1964 after graduating high school, my brother, a class mate and I traveled to Manzanillo for the winter. I had not acquired a taste
for beer yet, I did not enjoy even the Mexican beer then (although I tried to). Ahh....the days of innocence lost.
We were probably the only gringo teenagers in that area at that time. Maybe I can dig up some old photos to post, it was a different world back then.

anyone who was in vietnam in the 60's remembers those rusted top tall black labels!
BUT, still better than 33! and I don't recall anyone complaining.

In Korea (1969) it was Old Milwaukee in 14 oz cans, or Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Never heard of 33!
I just remembered a tag line from a Carling advertisement, "Hey Mable, Black Label!"

Brew 102 & Falstaff. 102 was made in downtown Los Angeles just south of the City Hall on the right side of the Harbor freeway. Had a big tank
with it spelled out facing the road.

Even worser...Last year when we were hunting in Saskatchewan, couple Gringos (do they have gringos in Canada?) Were buying COORS beer from the local
liquor store at about 8000 dollars/case...

Truly unthinkable, chuckie. Coors (Rocky Mountain soda pop) could be offered free in our neck of the woods, and would never leave the shelves.
Trying beers...that idea made me remember this one.
When we were teens and made a camping/fishing trip to Manitoba many moons ago, my buddy succeeded in buying us some Canadian brews to take along. A
24 pk of Calgary Ale...almost like wine, and we choked it down...whew..it was about 14% alcohol and cured us of any more beer experiments on that
trip!
