One of the local fishermen who is pretty savvy about what goes on in our area heard all the guys complaining about the recent population explosion of sea lions in our area. We used to have a guy who went out with a bow and arrow and took pretty good care of the overpopulation of sea lions. When someone suggested it might be time to try that again, he said, " You know that they pangueros are not putting out nets now because the sea lions are so bad, so if you reduce their population then the netters will, in fact, take more fish than the few fish that are being taken by the seals". So maybe it is about balance.

It's their turf...deal with it...work around it...move on at times. And yes, I have lost my share to them.
