Baja dwarf buckeye

If you've ever driven around the coast between Ensenada and Erendira during the spring, you've probably noticed that certain hillsides are lit up with a yellow shrub. I got curious and looked at them closely one day, turns out the yellow color is from the leaves not the flowers, as they prepare to fall off during the dry season. They looked just like California Buckeye leaves, usually found much farther north in CA, but on much smaller plants. Did some research and found out that it is a dwarf version that is endemic to the area.

Lower California Buckeye

Here is what they look like as of 3.28.2015 on the road from Punta San Jose to Santo Tomas:

Now you know...

Do the leaves resemble marijuana?

They do on the buckeye trees in Ohio.

I don't know what marijuana looks like. But if I did, I would say they resemble the fat leaves of an indica more than the thin leaves of a sativa.
