Stashing a truck in Loreto

Does anyone know a place around Loreto where I could stash a pickup? I'm getting tired of the drive, and if I could leave a truck there I could make better use of the time I have.

Opinions on whether this is a good idea at this time are also welcome. I know Loreto's changing, but it's not gone yet.

Thanks!

Truck Storage

It is true you are susposed to have an FM3 to leave anything in Mexico. However, I don't think it is a big deal. If it is stolen, the police will not look for it because it was not susposed to be there. One the other hand, there are lots of Mexicans that could use the extra money to store it for you. I could put you in touch with someone honest that could store it for you. capn.sharky@verizon.net :o

No need. They either know who took it or stole it themselves.

storage in loreto

There is a storage place (Mario's Storage), located on Carrillo , half a block from the Port Capitan and marina.
It is secure and pretty inexpensive.
They can be reached from the states at"

Check Marios Storage

Find out how much he wants and my friend will beat it by $5.00 per month. Your truck will be very secure as my friend has a commercial panga building business in Loreto. His name is Francisco. Not only that, but if you call him ahead of time and tell him what flight you are on, he will come up and get you in your truck. That saves you another $10.00. Just trying to get Pancho a little business here. Not trying to cut anybody out. He works for the Park Service and is a good guy to know. If you want to know more call me at my California home 909 985-4343 Thanks, Sharky

Big deal

As long as he says he takes the truck out of Mexico every six months (and that can be for only one minute) he is not breaking the law. Your six month visa allows you to keep the car in Mexico for up to six months at a time. Anyway, if he stores it at the other place, they will see it all the time. I went for years without an FM3. Finally one day at the airport, one of the Migra came up to me and told me "Chayo, we have been letting you slide for years, but I think you should get an FM3 now as they are sending guys up from La Paz to check". Sure enough, they started checking. I think it just depends on who you get and how you behave yourself in town. It probably is different in different areas. Anyway, its no big deal to get the FM3 and you are afforded more protection with one. You are correct that when you get caught on a big deal it can go really hard on you. So I am not disagreeing with you. One should follow the rules when in a foriegn country---you are right about that. I wouldn't want to get Judge Yee in Mulege angry at me.:)

I just visited your site for the first time. Very nice---glad I did. I tried to sign the guestbook but it wouldn't come up. Sometime when passing through Mulege, I will stop and introduce myself......if you promise not to beat me with a stick.
