HURRICANE CARLOS DISCUSSION NUMBER 13
400 PM CDT SAT JUN 13 2015
Satellite images show that Carlos is becoming stronger. The eye is
becoming better defined, with a more symmetric appearance on the
latest infrared pictures. Radar data also shows a more complete
eyewall, although it is still open on the north side at times.
Over the past 24 hours, Carlos has drifted northeastward toward a
weakness in the mid-level ridge over Mexico related to a trough over
the Gulf of Mexico. All models continue to insist that the ridge
will strengthen soon, forcing Carlos more toward the west-northwest
or northwest over the next couple of days. The ridge is expected
to weaken again due to a trough over northwestern Mexico, which
should cause Carlos to turn more to northwest by late Monday.
However, since any significant westward motion has yet to
materialize, the guidance continues to show a greater threat to
Mexico, with many models now having a landfall within a few days
time. Thus, the NHC forecast is moved to the right in agreement with
the model consensus. Although the center is still offshore of
Mexico through 36 hours, the hurricane-force wind radii are too
close for comfort, and therefore the government of Mexico has issued
a Hurricane Warning for a portion of the southwestern coast.

TMI, miss the good old days of plotting hurricanes via a six hour National Weather Service update on a radio. Nowadays, Shaun Dawg is all over it and
surf forecasters get all wet trying to out do each other!!!
But since many gringos have moved into the path of destruction, I guess all of these animated productions are pretty cool!

So everyone dump a bucket of water over your heads and put the fire out. Carlos is heading North and won't go anywhere near Baja.

One of the easiest ways to learn about posting anything on Nomads, is to use the quote button on any posts one reads. It looks like you do have to
reply, but you can just cancel out of the post.
This way one can learn all the bb codes one needs to pst whatever. I still have the note around to help me post from you tube and Facebook.

Carlos was downgraded to a tropical storm early Wednesday morning, and is about 75 miles west-northwest of Manzanillo,
Mexico.
A tropical storm warning remains in effect from Manzanillo to Cabo Corrientes.
The center of Carlos is scraping the coast north of Manzanillo with tropical storm-force winds Wednesday.
However, Carlos is quickly weakening and Carlos is forecast to become a remnant low by Wednesday night or early Thursday, if not sooner.
Additional rainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the Mexican states of Colima and Jalisco through Friday. Life-threatening flash
floods and mudslides are possible, particularly over mountainous terrain. Since Carlos is a small storm, this rainfall may occur only in localized
areas.
According to hurricane specialist Michael Lowry of The Weather Channel, only four other eastern Pacific hurricane seasons have recorded
their third named storm by June 11.
