Alphonsina's Today?

I am visiting Gonzaga Bay on Oct, and have not been there in a few years. Any significant changes since the pavement reached there? Fishing still ok? Any crime issues? Thanks Nomads in advance!:?:

ALFONSINA'S: the pavement is about 12 miles past there now (from Puertecitos south), a security gate issues passes for visitors to the restaurant (good roads bring all kinds of people). This since some crime happened with the new road. The shrimp and fish dinners are still awesome... but I don't get there too often, so check with other posts... use search, and spell it with an F instead of a PH, and you can read all posts about it.

ALFONSINA'S... last year's March...

Store and gas station at end of runway... and that's where the pavement ended last year... well a bit down further but not much...

...palapas bottom left are definitely not a good place to camp and wander around... roads bring among other things: thieves...

We were there in March. Some room updates. The guard gate seems to be allowing residents to sleep better.
Can't wait to get back when it cools off :cool:

PS Thanks for the great pics Carlos

Thefts at Alfonsina's were a problem well before the pavement arrived. We motorcyclists learned to lock our bikes together or they could vanish overnight.

October is a good month to fish there...who knows as to the catch. Water could be cooling down enough for Yellowtail at the surface. You will catch dinner at the very least! Rebel fastracs or chrome Krocs near shore for Corvina...small hooks and cut bait for Triggers.

If all else fails a good size Spotted Bay Bass is delicious...I don't care what anyone says!

CarlosG, great photos!

50 years ago, this month, my parents and I (on my first Baja trip) camped about where the southernmost house is today, at Alfonsina's... using my dad's new '65 Jeep Wagoneer and a tent trailer. Baja has been a part of me ever since!

This photo of Gonzaga Bay I took from the trail up the island, about 1986:

It's too dangerous. Just stay inside your house in 'Merica if you are too a-scared.....

Edit: forgot this ----> :lol::lol::lol:
