Crossing border into US
A few questions about crossing into US at the TJ border.
Are you required to show proof of US insurance?
What if my US plated car registration & sticker is expired? I do have my original title for the car though.
Can I get US insurance if my plates/sticker are expired?

These all sound like issues for the Highway Patrol to cite you for, if you get a ticket. The border agents do not ask about your car insurance. Better
contact your U.S. agent before your trip north.

No, not required to show insurance. Mexico doesn't check stickers. Can you get US insurance?...don't know.

Good ?, US Customs will enter the vehicles plate, it will show
registered owner. Whether they are concerned with expired
registration is the point? My GUESS is they might secondary
you, they don't ask for proof
of insurance. I believe a
vehicle would require current reg to get Ins? As pointed out, expired reg is more of a vehicle ticket violation as opposed
to US Customs area of enforcement

can't comment on TJ, when I exit Lukeville AZ there are small offices along the road with signs that say they sell US insurance...

you should call the state of registration first and get the rules.
In California you need insurance to drive any car on the road
you would also need "at least" a one day move permit (free)
then go straight to the DMV nearest the border
drive without plates or permission and "for sure" a ticket...
they are not cheap
