No Exede in Lopez Mateos

So Jose from Loreto came in last night to Lopez to try one more time to get Exede Internet signal in Lopez.

No Go.

Stuck with HughesNet still.

Damn!

Really disappointed.

Where exactly is Lopez Mateos? Is he trying to set up your account using a Douglas Az address? Tell him he might try using a Yuma Az address which puts you on a different beam and might possibly work better down there. I get a stronger signal up here in Bahia using the Yuma address so you might get lucky.
Good luck
Larry

Thanks, Larry. I forwarded this to the installer and the boss in Ensenada, so we'll see.

Yes using the Douglas Az address.

Dang! That's an absolute bummer, Mula. We were really hoping Exede would work for you up there in Lopez.

It'll be really interesting to hear how the different address thing works out since we're still in the "stuck with HughesNet club" along with you, as you know!

I didn't realize it was so much farther south of Loreto. You may be stuck with Hughes for a bit longer. Exede is launching a new satellite next summer with 3 times the capacity of the sat they are using now and it will cover all of the US, Canada, Mexico including Baja, Central America and the Caribbean. If you can wait a bit longer a better service is on the way.

My problem is: I spend 6 months in San Nicolas over on the Sea of Cortez between Mulege and Loreto.

Excede comes in fine there.

I take my modem back and forth. Same with my Sky TV. 2 dishes - 1 in each place and just take the modem back and forth with me.

So now I have Excede for San Nicolas and HughesNet in Lopez = paying for 2 services. Since I am in San Nicolas for 3 to 4 days a month during the hot season and in Lopez Mateos for 3 to4 days a month during the cold season . . ..it's terrible having to pay for 2 services.

Going to put Exede on vacation and hope a guy in San Nicolas will trade his Hughest net system with me for my Excede system - there.

I don't think the Exede guys know what they are selling!

Hopefully next year when the new sat is launched you will be able to do what you are try to do now with Exede. No one really knows but the new sat sounds like it will give service to everyone in the western hemisphere north of the equator.
