Day trip to Mikolajki, NE Poland

Miko is another town, about 2 hours away from us - it is a sports/tourist destination, huge and busy and great fun!

SO MANY BOATS - WATER EVERYWHERE!

PEOPLE EVERYWHERE!

BIKERS EVERYWHERE:

STALLS SELLING TOURIST MEMENTOS ON BOTH SIDES:

LOOKING DOWN FROM THE BRIDGE, RESTAURANTS AND STORES GALORE:

THIS LITTLE STAND HAS BEEN THERE FOR AT LEAST 10 YEARS, I SAW IT THE FIRST TIME I CAME:

ON OUR WAY TO MIKO, WE STOPPED BY SZTYNORT - I HAVE TO LOOK UP THE INFO ON THIS PORT....BUT IT WAS BEAUTIFUL AND DOES HAVE SOME HISTORICAL IMPORTANCE:

WE SAW THESE FOLKS - NOT TOO SHABBY EH?

FAMOUS BLDGS BUT COULD NOT FIND OUT INFO:

BUT THIS IS HOW LES'S SIS AND I FEEL ABOUT THIS DAY-

Very nice!

Did you tell them about a hot dog 'Mexykañski' (bacon wrapped)?

What is a Polish Sausage called in Poland? Are the "Hot-Dogs" from that cart the same size wiener ('frank') as here, or different?

polish sausage = kielbasa

If memory serves me right, it was a thin weinerdog on a normal hotdog bun.

The sad thing is that so many Europeans speak fluent English but so few American speak any foreign language.

Indeed... but, since English is the primary international language that so many others learn (as you state), less need for Americans, Canadians and Brits to learn more languages, ... perhaps?

well, I am partial to the lake region because I think it is just so beautiful....but I also highly recommend KRAKOW. It is incredibly interesting.

They say studying a new language drastically opens up those neurons and prevents a stroke -so study away! Just thinking about one new word a day will create synapses that might prolong a healthier life.

I found that my base in Portuguese really helped me out when I took my SAT's - they try to catch you with latin based words that, for me, in 1975 -and for my kids in 2000, were a piece of cake.
