San Roque's new church hosts a beautiful wedding!
An amigo Juan Carlos Murillo who was one of the initial founders of the Jurjos surf club here in Bahia Asuncion...and is the physical education
teacher at the school...got married to Klaudia in the newly renovated church in San Roque...the little abandoned fish camp where my husband Juan was
born and raised. It was such a beautiful ceremony, it brought tears to my eyes. I love the part where they put a rope lasso around the couple!
Many of you have been to this church when it was in ruins and this year it was rebuilt with a community effort. It is now a beautiful building with
lots of rock work and a nice social room on the side of it as well as bathrooms at the back.

the reception was at the beach across from our cabin
I am so happy to see the church revived and hope it means a better future for this magical place.
This kind of progress is a blessing to the area and people who live here!

I am blown away at how much has happened since I was there in late November! No work had been started yet, and I was thinking it was a shame to leave
in in ruins like that.
Good for the folks of San Roque!
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

I've always dug the "rope around the couple" during the marriage ceremony as well. Has many meanings, depending on if you're in a good mood or a bad
mood!
Thanks!

Wonderful. A real testament of community pride. Even in ruins, that little church had a special feeling about it. It's really great to see it
revitalized.

"it has curbs and everything!"
Meaningful, especially living a part of it.

Same church, in 2007...
For those who have not been to San Roque before the reconstruction...
Quite a transformation of what then was thought to be 'haunted'!

Very nice to see old and new photos! David, looks like the land (before photo) could use some of your drip irrigation.

Water is pretty scarce out there... natural growth only, no landscaping!
However, if there is a supply of water to support landscaping or tree planting, drip irrigation uses a fraction of the water compared to sprinklers!
