Camping on Isla Angel de la Guarda

I am planning a trip to Bahia and plan to camp for a few nights on the big island. Its 20 miles one way and I have 8 people. I was curious if anyone here has done this. I have one pretty steep quote so far. Just curious if anyone had any insight on this. How much it cost them? Who they went with? Any info would help, Thanks

you'd think it would only cost a day-rate for however many pangas to get you there and back, plus maybe something extra for not leaving you there!

Yes, one Nomad spent quite a bit of time on that island...

Too true; keep in mind, round trip, approximately 50 miles x twice, and pangas use large motors = not-so=good gas mileage considering the passenger weight, plus their boat/captain/guide licenses, their day's wages (twice) plus a helper's also. And, methinks you're talking two pangas with all your camping gear. There's their boat license and permits to be considered, and you ARE a tourista. Baja just ain't cheap any more. A 20-mile fishing jaunty would set you back about $200/day easy for four people, maybe more. Shop around, but be careful, you get what you pay for. I'd be looking for reliability.

I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

The wind can turn that into an ugly crossing. You will want a capable boat, motor, captain. Buddha's $200/day/boat is certainly not out of line and maybe a little low. You might get a better deal in the dead of winter when few are running fishing charters.

So far the only response I have gotten is 400$ each boat each way. 1600$ usd, I was expecting to hear 250$ per or 1,000$ total

a days fishing to the big island runs $350. it would be about a 4-5 hour round trip for them instead of 6-8 hours. try selling it like that. who have you contacted?

Yes Shari I have tried him but no response yet. I have emailed/facebooked 6 captains. Only heard back from 1 so far. Haven't had much luck by phone. Guillermos said yes but were not sure on price. Waiting on calls and emails back.

Thank you Nomaders, got the response I was looking for. Ruben Daggett said 800$ round trip 2 boats. He deserves a hefty tip at that price. :bounce:
