Travel with bird

Hi all, just want to share this - according to US Dept of Wildlife, a couple of months ago Mexico banned importing birds (something to do with avian flu).

I am sharing because I was going to bring my beloved white bellied caique, Buster, with me in May. I was told he would have been confiscated and euthanized. Glad I called, I will be leaving him in the USA.

I wonder if the millions of migratory birds that cross the border realize that they are at risk?

The are creative ways to bring your bird across. Just don't try to take it back to the US.

I have an USDA import/export passport for him, so I am legally allowed to bring him back into the US (the passport documents that he is my pet bird, hatched in US, not illegally imported to US, and he is banded). I just have to get it stamped before I "export" him to Mexico.
