Nothing but good to say about oxxo. Ice and cold beers and lots of snacks. Even had a cashier in tecate talk us in to a 30 pack. Lol. She was alot of
fun.

OXXO is very convenient.... in Tecate you cant go 10 meters without hitting one.... But you should support your local convenience store whenever
possible, OXXO has put a lot of those small mom-n-pops under, much like Walmart in the US...
..unless you are looking to change a view dollars  if you buy a 6-pack of xx with
$20, you will usually get ~240 pesos back as they honor what the exchange really is, I think they change it once a month.
If I can find a private store within a few blocks I prefer that.

Actually, at Oxxo.
The mom and pop tienditas (really don't know how to say this and not offend anyone) don't always have what they should, they run out of a certain
soda, milk, can of chicken noodles or what ever and they always say; "No ha llegado, regrese maņana". I and all us other mexicans don't want maņana,
we want our frijoles ahora, now! You walk into a tiendita and you can hardly see because of the dim light bulb assigned to light up the entire store.
The bigest thing is pricing, the small mom and pop tienditas are just higher priced than these new convenience stores.
At Oxxo, they always have what we(we're talking locals, remember) want, even a brand new cel phone, if that's what you're needing at the moment. At
Oxxos I/we (the locals) can pay our phone, light, gas, even our credit card bills, can't do that over at mom and pop. In winter they have heating and
in summer AC, mom and pop don't.
Forever, even far back on the amigo days, I've wondered, where do I find those mexicans they talk about on the board that do and like things I as a
mexican living in mexico with all my friends being mexican don't.
As for the exchange rates, some companies have chosen to go with the daily official mexican government exchange rates, and those are major name brands
like Oxxo, Soriana, among others and they offer a far superior rate than any money exchange place but, they are not a money exchange business. They
are under law required to be able to accept dollars but return pesos. That is the way the law states that it should be and when you deal with large
national companies like oxxo and them, they rather just follow the rules. So it's not a cashier or store thing, it's just corporate policy.
Funny, I just realized, mom and pop had no corporate policies.

My mistake in wording this, there is no law requiring anyone to accept dollars. I guess the "be able" didn't come out right. As for the change in
pesos, it all started on the Calderon administration with the anti-money laundering law and then with the transparency law. Maybe because they take
payments for banks or because they also do money transfers so they have that policy for everything.

Because of their fast turnover OXXO also has the best bagged ice and price of any other store down here in Punta Banda. Everyone elses has been
partially thawed and refrozen into a solid mass
