Ahhhhh and a question
Such differing experiences makes S/B a crap shoot - we'll give it a go on mid morning next Monday.
I have very little hair left to pull out so we'll see what happens.
Edited to add: in the event it is a long back up, would we know in time to not actually get in the line beyond the point of no return and then head
east to Otay Mesa? South from there on Blvd 2000 is pretty easy.

Southbound traffic is heaviest when Mex workers are returning home in the late afternoon/evening. Sounds like weekend tourist traffic is also becoming
a problem.

Prolly not. The turn to Otay is 4ish miles north of the TJ border. There is a Caltrans website that might give some info.

I have only crossed southbound at Otay once, (two years ago) and that was by accident! I intended to cross at Tecate, so that is what I programmed
into my GPS, and it decided that I should take Mex 2 to get there.
It was on a Thursday evening at the start of a three day weekend, but there was nobody ahead of me. I never even made eye contact with a human, just
drove up to a mechanical arm, stopped, it raised and I was in Mexico.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

If you avoid the rush hour, southbound SY is always quickest and easiest.

But yesterday I did receive some BS campaign propaganda back from Issa.
Never requested to be on his list.
I hope the bastard loses his re-election bid. |
Issa is a convicted crook and I do not understand why he keeps getting re-elected. He has was a Crapload of our money chasing the Benghazi thing,
which was nothing more than partisan BS.
Stop re-electing this DB felon.

To get back on track:
The congressman that represents the border area and its residents (me) has been contacted. I'll let nomads know if I hear back from him.
Just checked a webcam, looks like a 15 - 20 minute southbound backup. Not bad for this time of day, 5pm.

Dk, trump is nuts, but not yet convicted. Just wanted to clarify your assertion that trump is a convicted crook or murderer. Carry on!

Yes, I'm aware that Issa doesn't cover this territory but he's MY congressman and supposedly has a lot of power and votes on funding "stuff" so I
figured I'd complain to him.

Quote: Originally posted by SFandH | Juan Vargas is the congressman who represents the border area. I doubt Issa gives a rat's patootie about border crossing times.
http://vargas.house.gov/
I just sent him an email asking when they are going to staff the second booths that have been added to each line.
I know this thread started out about the southbound crossing but I don't think the US Gov can do anything about those delays. The southbound
bottleneck is in Mexico.

But, he is a crook who has peeed away ten of millions of taxpayer money on ridiculous witch hunts. Why do people keep electing him?
He is probably the most responsible person for why you hear all those friggin' car alarms.

You know, Issa endorsed Trump, so it is likely that Issa has the same Trump-like bigoted view of Mexico,... So he may not care about the border
issues, other than building that stupid wall

The CA congressional districts closest to the border are 50 thru 53.
50 Duncan Hunter (R)
51 Juan Vargas (D)
52 Scott Peters (D)
53 Susan Davis (D)
All of these districts have businesses that Mexican consumers support to varying extents and probably employ the majority of Mexican workers who cross
everyday.
Nomads living in these districts should go to their representative's website and express their desire that the government staff the additional
inspection booths that have been built but not staffed.
