Thanks for all the info but now it's too late for them to enjoy anything in that beautiful town. Yesterday my daughter had her purse stolen with her passport, credit cards, DL, etc plus $500. Reported it to police and they wrote a report and gave her a copy and lectured her about how foolish she was to have everything in her purse instead of a fanny pack.
They are now trying to get to the nearest US Embassy to try and find some way to get on homeward bound flight without her passport.

Where was her purse?

I had a friend have the bottom of hers sliced open during an event at the jardin.

Lotta people, lotta of jostling and she didn't notice her purse was much lighter for a few seconds and then it was too late.

The tourist areas are hotspots for that stuff.

That was a town I always kept my eyes very open in if I had anything of remote value with me.

She sat purse down on bench next to her while she took 1 photo with her camera and never saw anyone walk by.

OMgosh I was not even remotely concerned when we were there! There by the grace of God go I.

So sorry to hear this.

I do believe they will have no problem re-entering the States...my guess is that this happens somewhere every single day.
