La lista negra

Interesting! 10 years ago you could get a proper black list of bad pemex stations in Mexico. This seems to be the best you can get nowadays?

I just think it is wonderful how they can get 22+ liters in my 20 liter gas can. What a bonus!
"just some more than others" so true.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

Since we are mostly talking about Baja Pemex, check out the FACEBOOK page:
Gasolineras Ratas- Valle De San Quintin. They have listings for most of Baja.

Soon Pemex will no longer be the only option in Mexico.
With private-sector competition now allowed, Pemex gas stations will yield to private companies, including Hidrosina, Gulf, The Gas and Oxxo. The Gas
opened in Mérida last June.

Last month, I was pleasantly surprised that I found no "obvious" or "gross" gas pump cheats using my recordings. The only one that seemed a little off
was the Gonzaga Bay station, but I only pumped 32 liters to top off my 80-liter tank, so not conclusive. Heck, if you need gas, and there is no
competition, it is just a thing.
[note: mileages shown are total driven between stations, including side trips, not direct miles between towns]
Got gas at:
El Centro top off, then
128. 3 miles to:
San Felipe (El Dorado station north of town), 47 liters (includes 19 liter can)
117.7 miles to:
Gonzaga Bay, 32 liters
164.3 miles to:
L.A. Bay (the first station entering town, on the right), 43 liters
170.6 miles to:
Vizcaíno (the first station, north end), 43 liters
134.4 miles to:
Mulegé (the station along the highway, south of town), 24 liters &
129.2 miles back to:
Mulegé, 45 liters
87.4 miles to:
San Ignacio, 20 liters
161.5 miles to:
Bahía Asunción, 38 liters
140.3 miles to:
Villa Jesús María, 30 liters
252 miles to:
El Rosario, 51 liters
247.7 miles to:
Tecate (on the right between toll road and RR Tracks, Hwy. 3), 52 liters

Senora Gringa arrives at the Pemex at a small town in Baja. Francisco greets her and takes her 15 liter gas can. 18 liters is put in it. While paying,
Senora Gringa asks "Francisco, how can you get 18 liters in a 15 liter gas can?" Francisco replies, "Senora, today is your lucky day!"

It's all PEMEX... with another name. PEMEX isn't just a gas supplier...it's the largest and most important money supplier for the government. PEMEX
is the life blood of Mexico.
It's a Plus-Plus for Mexico, since they've sat and watched their fuel industry deteriorate to an archaic point, and they won't be dependent on their
production inabilities any more. They just send their crude north for refinement, and license other names to import the product with heavy import
taxation.
The same dynamic is evident here in Mexico on the streets. The price of gas is high. It doesn't balance with the average wage.
Why? Because PEMEX has all but quit operating gas stations. Now they are franchised, and the profit margin must be bloated to satisfy franchisees
with good profit as well as enticing future investors.
Make no mistake about it. PEMEX isn't just a bunch of gas stations. PEMEX is Mexico
.

There are some billboards around TJ/Otay touting the honesty and integrity of a particular franchisee (don't remember the name). Kinda surreal -
honesty is almost a foreign concept . . .
