Ensenada bypass

Can anyone shed light on the progress of the Ensenada bypass road? Where does it connect back to the main road heading south?

It was last reported useless to use to go anywhere except the east side of Ensenada, as it doesn't even connect to the San Felipe highway yet.... However, updates are appreciated!

The road construction is about a mile behind BajaGuy's house. Sometimes you can hear the faint noise of running the machinery from his house.

"Apparently" funding has been received to continue work on the the bypass and join it to the Ojos Negro road (unknown timetable). They are also in the process of completing a major bridge structure west of that junction.

You can take the bypass (supposed to be closed to through traffic - locals only) from Hwy 3 to the extension of Ave Ruiz then to Calle Ambar and pick up Reforma (Hwy 1). If you go past Ruiz and manage to exit the bypass, you will end up in a rat's maize of surface streets. Also watch out for rocke (boulders) on the roadway and washouts/potholes.
