Yes, I did call J.W. Black today... thank you for making the connection!
1966 (when the Erle Stanley Gardner expedition found those 'lost mission' ruins) was a long time ago, and that one Baja discovery happened on one day
of hundreds exploring Baja...
J.W. is quite along in years and couldn't recall details of that one day... I know I couldn't after a life like his. Heck he invented all those
fantastic vehicles 40 years ago, made famous in Erle's 'Off the Beaten Track in Baja' and other books!

JW sure looks like a guy that could keep some campfire yarns going for days & days...I'm sure his adventures with ESG alone could fill several books!

Mexray....you are so right about Blackjack (JW)..
He was a great addition in those early years at our nightly campfire talks and bull sessions. I can still see him sitting by the fire, wearing jeans,
blue denim shirt, an old cowboy hat with a scorpion pinned to the crown, chewing his Beechnut tobacco, relating some amazing trips and discoveries he
had made in Baja and elsewhere. I went on quite a few with him and his wife, Lois..who was my avid fishing partner. Speaking to JW today always
reminds me of those early years. They are part of why I began to love Baja....

I can't resist saying how much more fun life is as our path's cross those of such 'characters' as 'Blackjack'. How much 'richer' we are for the
experiences shared around the fire, over a cool cerveza, or a plate of beans! What great times you must have had.
We were rather busy up on the beach at Playa Naranjos this last trip, and didn't get a chance to stop by for a quick 'howdy', down your way.
BTW, did you see that large private yacht that made a one-day visit on the Bahia - it came in the night of 2/4 and was lit up like a Christmas tree
all night. It pulled up the hook the morning of 2/5 and toured around Coyote and Santispac before heading out the Bahia to the north in the
afternoon. I took this pic with the peninsula mountains in the background as the yacht passed our punta. I didn't have my good binoculars, so didn't
get her name.
