San Felipe to Texas.....
Are there any issues with crossing at Sonoyta/Lukeville out of Sonora? Looks like the shortest route.

Are you looking for the shortest route or the fastest route. It may be the shortest but not the fastest.

No problem unless it is Sunday afternoon. Long lines just like everywhere else.

FWIW.......and going in the opposite direction from just south of Yuma on Hwy 195....via San Felipe and over the 22 miles of dirt towing a 24' travel
trailer......made it to Guerrero Negro in 12.5 hours. 5-10 MPH
No stops other than fluid intake and output and fuel at Gonzaga.
Dash temp gauge showed 110 once away from the Gonzaga area and inland on the dirt....that was a couple of weeks back when the desert SW was on fire. A
much needed 67 at Gro. Negro.

Have done it many times, proneman. The drive is shorter by a tad, but not quicker by any means. I like the drive across the northern volcanic fields
west of Sonoyta, but going through the 2nd half of the voyage to Mexicali-south to San Flip is a flat long drive. If you're in tourismo-mode and in a
hurry, do yourself a favor; stay on I-10/8, take the Mexicali East exit, head south from there... otherwise, do the Mexico Hwy route and enjoy just
being south of the border. The sooner I get into Mexico the sooner I acclimate to Mexican Standard Time and feel free and unfettered.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

I understand you are headed north, and want the fastest route. I would also recommend crossing at Mexicali east, and take the US highways back to
Texas.
Personally, I would like to take the Mexican highways, just because I have not traveled the stretch east of San Luis for a few years, and would like
to see what has changed.
Another benefit of traveling north of the border is not having toll roads, and I am pretty sure gasoline is well below Pemex prices at this time
(could be wrong!).
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

We crossed back over at Algadones a few weeks ago (also coming back to TX) and had no issues. We took the 5 up to the 2 East. At Algadones there might
have been 3-4 cars in front of us. Streets were super narrow though. Wouldn't do it in an RV.
Then shot right into Yuma and ate at Lutes and then East for a few days.
Good luck
