Casa Bergin is for sale
My wife and I just happened to be wandering through Baja Sur real estate listings and stumbled across the house of recently departed Baja Nomad George (Jorge) Bergin, a.k.a. Osprey. It was sad to see the little casita emptied of its comfortable
patio furniture, but also a fitting reminder of why it was his special paradise.

Weird to see it without Osprey and Lynda inside. It was just over a year ago they both were there.

It looks like Casa Bergin is still for sale - a surprise given its proximity to Costa Palmas. I nearly paid a visit when I was in Todos Santos last
week, but ran out of time. I'm back to the Land of Ice and Snow, which I would describe to George in lurid detail, along with Nor'easters, Fenway
Franks and Jimmies. I always envied his ability to "travel" just by being inquisitive about other places.

That house really has a nice location. Sure miss Jorge and his writing. We were lucky to be in his circle of friends.

I miss him too. We bonded over writing several years ago and got to a point where we were emailing each other almost every day. I was lucky to meet
him and Lynda a few years back, and always felt that he lived - and ultimately died - exactly the way he wanted. His was a life well lived.

Jorge (George) gave me some of his stories and the book on La Ribera he produced. Remind me to scan and share it if I don't remember after I am fully
unpacked from my move. I met him in August 2017. Before my book was published, he reviewed it and I included it on the back cover, along with reviews
by Greg Niemann and Graham Mackintosh. Very kind of him!

Over the weekend I clicked on the link to the property and got a "Page Not Found" error. Further research seems to indicate that's it's no longer
listed. Hopefully George's daughter-in-law was able to find a buyer.

Is there reason to believe it wouldn't sell in 3.5 years? Or that the in-laws wouldn't be living in it.

From what George told me before he passed, Lynda's family wasn't interested in living in Mexico. While that may have changed, I'm not sure it did.
I'd like to think it would have sold. It was listed at just over $150K (US), and while it was small (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom), it was on a corner lot a
block away from the beach. I've noticed that houses that have been on the market for a long time are suddenly getting purchased, and that most of the
properties listed are lots without structures. La Ribera is going through quite a bit of growth on account of Costa Palmas.
