That's bizarre, I just watched this video with my students yesterday. What a weird coincidence.

That was well worth watching, thanks. I have to admit that I kind of expected to see that JZ had installed hydrofoils to 'lift' his boat. :smug:

It was amazing that they moved more people in 9 hours than they did from Dunkirk in 9 days.

JZ

Thank you for that. I lost many a friend that day. It was good to see the best of the human spirit.

now imagine there is another country on the other side and they don't let you in - why would they care about your terror and suffering

There can't be a border without border security. Whether they "care" and what kind of suffering, is a complicated matter. Substantial share of asylum seekers and illegal immigrants are economic migrants, moving from poorer places to rich-er. Let's not go there.

Borderline jingoism. Video didn't do a thing for me. Boat people did good things, yes. People came together and there was support. What's happened since? Nothing. USA as divided or more than it was then.

Taliban being invited to Camp David for a get together? This is patriotism? Buddying up to scum who want us dead?

My parents died remembering Pearl Harbor and hating those responsible for those deaths.

I'm not forgetting 18 years ago and want to see more accountability for what happened. The war on terrorism is just beginning.

US Marines: providing enemies of America an opportunity to die for their country since 1775.

What I say before any important decision.
F*ck it.
