"El Pelicano" didn't last long as the map that names it is from January 1989 and it wasn't there in October 1989 when I went there or a few years
later when my babies were introduced to Baja in the mid 90s. As for "Shell Island" it was shared by me on Amigos de Baja since 1998 and Nomad since
2002. The expats in South Campos call it "Shell Beach," so there you have it.

We've been in Percebu since 1976 and always referred to it as the sand bar. The elevated road was referred to as the levee. Does anyone know who built
the levee? It's almost gone now, but it made the drive over there much easier and kept you out of the mud.

The first time I found the new elevated road was in 1985. The new highway roadbed was built in 1982-83 and there was no elevated road to the island
then. We drove to the island in the arroyo just north of the Km. 26 road. Before the new highway construction, we used the arroyo road all the way in
from the old Puertecitos road. See my 1980 map that shows it:
1982, new roadbed in:

David,
No bridge pics now.
It would be good to include the old bridge pictures to the thread. I like the memories.

I don't understand? The bridge pics are right above... Not showing up on you end?
Here it is again, from 2004 (with Surfer Jim):
Here are more recent pics of the 1984 bridge...

Thanks for the pics.
True nothing above shows on my feed. Yes they are missing. I even thanked you for posting them.
Obviously I did not cross the bridge in 2004.
I guess it was earlier. When I crossed the solid elevated road led to the bridge and it was solid even into the sand where I found sort of gully with
hills of sand on either side.

Right... the bridge was new there on a trip I took in 1985. In 1983, there was no elevated road or bridge.
