the times they are a changin bob dylan 1965?

reflections on past posts about drivers licences here in baja: the story follows:
Some moons ago when I was a new to this area, I had a good friend who was an absolutley great boat skipper at Rancho Buena Vista, but had never driven a car,or anything with wheels.
I had a 5th wheel trailer and an elderly
gmc pickup already here in the pueblo where I still live. and I thought it might be benificial for both of us to use this truck!
So, I made an arraigment with "Juan"
If he would agree to take me to and from the airport, until I relocated here full time,
He would have full use of this fine machine, while I was in the states.
And afterword, It would be his. He expressed that this would be a very fine situation for both of us. I then in my American thinking said "Juan, you must get a drivers permit, but I will give you instruction on how to drive this machine"
After 3 or 4 times up and down the street
"Juan" was ready to apply for a permit!
He proceeded to the powers that be in our puebleo, came back in 20 minutes, and stated that I have permit for vehicle operation. I then asked, "Juan" how was the written test? No test, he replied! What about the eye test? I have good eyes, as I am a fisherman! OK I said, how much did it cost for a drivers licience?
I don"t know, he said I traded a piece of marlin for it!!!!!!!!!! 1991!

I hope you have insurance on it. although I don't think it will cover an accident if he is driving.

I should copy all these great stories, and condense into a good reading book. I'd be a richboy like Bajlou!
Oh. by the way, THANKS Buddy! Now my kids are asking where they can get somepiece of marlin :lol::lol:
